I wanted a fresh looking garage floor and did a bit of research into various brands. There are a few brands that Bunnings stock but they all seemed to have average reviews with quite a few negative and nothing that gave me confidence in purchasing. I came across Right Choice Garage Floor paint – and read through all the reviews. It seemed there were very few if any negative experiences. I spent a couple of weeks taking the time to prep the concrete etching twice, power hosing a few times and leaving ample time for the concrete to dry. I did a few water tests to make sure water was sinking in – there was still a patch (after etching twice!) in which I needed to re-etch. When it came to painting – the first coat of paint sank in pretty well and was quick to dry. If I could do this step again I would have done it with another set of hands given the quickness of the drying. I then proceeded to do another two coats over the proceeding days. The second and third coat were easier to apply. During the prepping stage I had fixed the cracks in the concrete with Ardit Rapid set repair mortar which dried a darker colour than the original pale concrete colour so found that a third coat of paint was needed to cover the difference in colour. I am very happy with the result and love that you can mop the floor clean if you get marks on it. Also I think it was good value for money considering it was a 20L tin for $277. I still have paint left over to touch up the floor in the future if I ever need to.
